Band Camp

Band Camp is our dedicated marching band summer intensive program where we prepare our show for the season! Band Camp is mandatory for band students in grade 9-12 who are taking part in the fall marching band season. Student work hard during these weeks: they build friendships, bond with their section and become strong performers. Band Camp is hard work but for many, a favorite time of the year!

Band Camp is CLOSED CAMPUS. You may NOT leave during the day or for lunch, dinner, or any other time, for any reason. Non-band students are not allowed to eat with you or hangout at the school during this time.

Mandatory band camp schedule for the 2026 Marching Band season is as follows:

Monday, July 27 - Friday, July 31, Percussion and Colorguard Camp. Colorguard will meet 9am - 4pm, Percussion will meet from 4pm - 9pm. All times are required for any student in Colorguard, Battery Percussion, or Front Ensemble Percussion.

Tuesday, July 28 - 6pm - 9pm, Brass and Woodwind Pre-Camp, OHS Band Room - REQUIRED for all woodwind and brass players. This is EVERYONE except Colorguard. Percussion is already in session this night.

Wednesday, July 29, 6pm – 9pm, Freshman Basics, Session 1. ALL freshmen, new OHS students, Drum Majors, and section leaders need to attend. Percussion and Color Guard freshmen do NOT need to attend.

Thursday, July 30, 6pm - 9pm, Brass and Woodwind Pre-camp continues, OHS Band Room - REQUIRED for all woodwind and brass players. EVERYONE except Colorguard. Percussion is already in session this night.

Saturday, August 1, 9am - 12pm, Freshman Basics session 2 – same members as before including Percussion (Battery and Front Ensemble) and Colorguard Freshmen.

Monday, August 3 – Friday, August 7. FULL BAND CAMP 9am - 9pm
Entire time is required for ALL band members.
Schedule will be approximately as follows:

9am – 12:00pm: Rehearsal (w/breaks)
12:00pm – 1pm: Lunchtime at school
1pm – 5pm: Rehearsal (w/breaks)
5pm – 6pm: Dinner time at school
6pm – 9pm: Rehearsal (w/breaks)

Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11 — Full Marching Band Rehearsals, 9am - 1:00pm.

After this, rehearsals still need to be scheduled. Please DO NOT schedule vacations in August/September/October. Once school starts, we will rehearse one night a week, Monday or Tuesday (on rare occasions, we have had to schedule a Wednesday night practice). We also rehearse the Saturday before or after the Allegan Fair and have NO night rehearsal the week of the fair. Night rehearsals will be set at a later date and depend on stadium availability. Plan on activities (rehearsals and/or competitions) every Saturday beginning with September 5 and ending October 24. Not every weekend will have events, but please leave them open as it is too early to know which competitions will be when. OBI will be Saturday, Sept. 26. There are 5 home football games where we will perform. The school calendar will contain a fall break but Marching Band will still be going on, so please do not schedule trips during this time.

IMPORTANT INFO

The OHS Band Room is the meeting place for all activities this week. We START at the times listed, so please be early.

Colorguard, the school is providing lunch for free, but please be sure to bring snacks and lots of water and Gatorade.

Percussion, the school is providing dinner for you but also bring snacks, water, and Gatorade.

Bring sunblock!!

Be sure to bring your MARCHING instruments. Tubas, Baritones, etc, you may keep your marching instruments here at school and leave your concert instrument at home to practice on.
